OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The City of Oak Ridge posted on Facebook Thursday, warning people that there is a new phishing scam targeting individuals and businesses regarding City of Oak Ridge beer permit applications.
The city said that scammers are emailing from City of Oak Ridge Planning & Development with the address oakridgetn.gov@usa.com, which is not an official City of Oak Ridge Government email address.
The email message from this address requests a payment for recent application, according to the city. They said that if you receive this email, do not respond, and do not send payment.
The city said that if you are ever prompted to pay city fees, call the department directly to confirm you are sending funds to the correct person and department.
