TEXAS COUNTY, Okla. (KSNW) -- One of the men charged in the brutal deaths of two southwest Kansas mothers is pleading with a judge to drop the charges.

Tad Cullum's attorneys filed a "motion to quash." They argue the Texas County District Attorney did not provide enough evidence to show that Cullum intentionally killed Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley and buried their bodies in a freezer.

On March 30, 2024, Butler and Kelley were declared missing after driving to Oklahoma from Hugoton to pick up Butler's children from Tifany Adams, the children's paternal grandmother. The women's car was found abandoned. Two weeks later, Butler and Kelley's bodies were found buried in a chest freezer. They had been stabbed to death.
