STATESBORO, Ga (WSAV) — Statesboro Food Bank, Inc. held its second annual Kaleidoscope fundraiser Thursday evening.

The gala included live piano music, a silent auction and a catered fall harvest inspired meal.

Executive Director Sheila Stewart-Leach told WSAV that the event was more than just a normal fundraiser.

"It actually is an anniversary gala for us," she said. "This is our 38th year of being a food bank and so last year we decided that we needed more presence in the community, that we needed to do some things to get people into the building to see what we're doing. We came up with this idea and we're going to do it every year."

The event comes as the current government shutdown has now become the longest in our nation's history and funding for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
