CLEVELAND — While this was Cleveland’s 4th annual Community Day, this year’s event was one of many firsts.
One such first was the 5K race, which drew 62 runners, to bring both awareness and donations for the local food pantries.
Pat Phifer, mayor of Cleveland, said the idea came about as there was discussion about wanting to have another race and what they would do. It was then that he said, “we need to be collecting stuff for the food banks, and why don’t we call it Fill the Food Banks, and that’s just where it came from.”
