MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Hundreds gathered at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday afternoon to help prepare for Veterans Day observances next week.
Officials said around 9,000 flags are being placed, one at each gravesite.
The all-volunteer effort is led by families of veterans buried at the cemetery in Boscawen, along with veterans groups and local students.

"We always talk about going slowly, read the names on the headstones, read the inscriptions, and then put a flag on every headstone. And when it's done, it looks really impressive," said Shawn Buck, director of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
