NORTHAMPTON — The Blue Devils opened their state tournament campaign on the right foot on Thursday, wiping the slate from their last match.

No. 2 Northampton boys soccer overcame a tenacious effort from No. 31 Newburyport, winning 4-2 in the MIAA Div. II state tournament round of 32.
