STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — At Purdue University, character isn’t just a trait — it’s currency.
So much so that the NCAA basketball powerhouse’s coach, Matt Painter, has implemented a sophisticated personality evaluation to ensure that every recruit has not just the ability — but also the mindset — to excel where the team needs him.
That process is exactly what led West Brighton resident Liam Murphy to Purdue University.
And as Murphy faces his toughest test yet — a situation where he has to fight for every minute of playing time — it’s his character that makes him a good bet to succeed.
“The West Brighton Boilermaker,” an Advance/SILive.com documentary series, chronicles his journey to March Madness.
