Middlesbrough have cancelled a Rob Edwards press conference amid links to the Wolves job.

The Boro manager was scheduled to speak with the media at 1pm on Friday ahead of the Championship clash against Birmingham.

However, just two hours before the event was due to take place, Middlesborough called it off.

It comes less than 24 hours after the second-tier side rejected an approach from Wolves , who have made Edwards the top target for their managerial vacancy.

Boro told the Premier League side they could not speak with Edwards and will not entertain any offers for their manager.

However, the 42-year-old is believed to have a release clause in his contract.
