AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The 30th annual Texas Book Festival kicks off this weekend, with events running Friday through Sunday.
With this tradition comes road closures in downtown that we want to make you aware of.
Starting Friday at 6 a.m., 11th Street from San Jacinto Boulevard to Lavaca Street will be closed until Sunday at midnight.
Congress Avenue, from 8th Street to 11th Street, will close Friday at 9 a.m., but that closure will extend to 7th Street starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
The Texas Book Festival, which was started in 1995 by First Lady Laura Bush, is held at the Texas State Capitol and extends onto Congress Avenue with a variety of activities including author presentations, panels, book signings and family-friendly options.
