LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Crews are still searching for anybody that could be unaccounted for after the UPS plane crash destroyed buildings and left charred wreckage on the ground south of the airport.
As of Friday morning, Mayor Craig Greenberg says there are still nine people unaccounted for. 13 people are dead. Investigators are starting to ramp up search efforts at the site.
For the first two days after the crash, much of the rubble and debris had to remain in place to help federal investigators who are trying to piece together what caused the crash.
Crews have now been given permission to dig through the wreckage.
Mayor Greenberg says every family deserves closure.
