LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The National Transportation Safety Board has released aerial footage of the aftermath of the crash of UPS 2976 near Muhammad Ali International Airport.
Investigators tell the media that the MD-11’s left engine fell off during the critical V2 to roll phase. The pilots were unable to abort take off. The plane then rolled before it crashed into two businesses creating a giant fireball.
The NTSB released video of aerial drone footage showing the charred trail of damage. 13 people are dead with nine others still missing.
Recovery efforts are still underway for the missing.
NTSB officials will hold a press conference Friday at 3 p.m. WAVE will stream the presser live.
