Bands of America had hundreds, thousands, millions of high school kids pounding on drums or wailing on trumpets or tossing rifles in the air in its hands, and Schaumburg, Illinois, couldn’t hold them anymore.

All that power, all that spectacle, all that noise — a Chicago suburb an hour northwest of the city just didn't seem like a perfect fit for Music for All, a standard-setting nonprofit for music education across the country, the parent organization of Bands of America. After 30 years in Schaumberg, the Music for All leadership decided it was time for a change.
