(WTAJ) -- UPMC has confirmed additional Medicare cuts in Central Pennsylvania.
People told WTAJ News that they received letters informing them that they were losing UPMC Medicare coverage in counties the healthcare conglomerate did not initially list. We pushed for answers from UPMC. A spokesperson confirmed in a follow-up email that the UPMC for Life Pro Rx Choice Plan will no longer be offered in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties.
That change will take effect Dec. 31.
Highmark also confirmed it will be making changes to Medicare offerings in Central and Western Pa.
A spokesperson confirmed in an email that Highmark will discontinue some plans in certain counties, but that they will continue to offer Medicare plans to every county in their system.
