Vitamin D is one of the most popular supplements that is often taken with the intention of supporting bone strength and immunity. However, a large number of people take it in a manner that may not give them the best benefits. Dr Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist at Hyderabad’s Apollo Hospitals, who is known as Hyderabad Doctor on social media, recently shared that the timing of taking Vitamin D is a very important factor in the success of the therapy.
In his advice, Dr. Kumar said: “Vitamin D is fat-soluble," i.e., the best absorption happens when vitamin D is taken together with food that contains fat, such as milk, eggs, nuts, or avocados. If the vitamin is taken on an empty stomach, he cautioned, its effectiveness may be reduced by almost half.
