SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Public ice skating will return to Savannah in a new home this winter, moving from Martin Luther King Jr. Arena to Enmarket Arena.
The return of public ice skating is thanks to a partnership between the City of Savannah and the Savannah Ghost Pirates to keep the community on the ice.
Staff prepared the ice inside Friday morning for Savannah's first public skate in nearly a year.
The shift of locations comes as the city prepares to tear down the aging Martin Luther King Jr. Arena, which ends decades of skating downtown.
City leaders said moving public ice time to Enmarket Arena helps keep the tradition alive.
