HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- One person was hospitalized with injuries after a car overturned on Highway 31 Friday morning, Horry County Fire Rescue said.

The overturned vehicle was the only car involved in the crash, and one person was confined inside.

It happened near the Intracoastal Waterway, and lanes of Highway 707-bound traffic were blocked as of 7:38 a.m. Fire rescue was dispatched at 6:56 a.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating and the Surfside Beach Fire Department is assisting. Drivers are asked to avoid the area due to possible delays and for the safety of those on the scene.
