HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A nearly 53-acre multi-residential district rezoning request along two roads was deferred Thursday during a Horry County Planning Commission meeting.
If the subdivision is approved, the new development would provide 149 single-family homes over 52.39 acres of land along Freewoods Road and Bay Road. The received application for the rezoning came from Earthworks on behalf of Sampit River Investments LLC.
They are requesting to rezone the woodlands from residential to a multi-residential district. The parcel is bisected by Freewoods Road and would, if rezoned, have homes on both sides of Freewoods Road.
Last month, News13 spoke to multiple residents in the area, two of whom cited concerns with children's safety in the area and wildlife.
