GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - An Upstate student’s kindness to her classmates is putting her the spotlight.
Ximena Estrada is being named the “Kindest Kid in America”. The national program highlights students who model exceptional kindness and inclusion to others.
The Inman Intermediate School hosted a surprise assembly to honor Ximena.
“When I was younger, I didn’t speak any English so I wanted to be kind to the other people who also didn’t speak English,” Ximena.
As part of the recognition, the “Kindest Kid in America” organization wrote a book about Ximena to share her story with others.
Ximena is the first South Carolina student to win the award.
