OMAHA, Neb. —

As open enrollment began Nov. 1 for 2026 Affordable Care Act Marketplace health insurance plans, hundreds of thousands of Nebraskans received notice that their premiums are set to spike in 2026.

A record number of Nebraskans used the ACA Marketplace to find health insurance in 2025, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Of the 137,645 that CMS lists as consumers, the Nebraska Department of Insurance told KETV that anyone making 138% or more above the federal poverty line may see a decrease in available tax credits.

KETV Investigates analyzed that data and found that 91% of Nebraskans using the ACA marketplace for health care may see an increase in costs.

"We had somebody who had a $360 a month premium that was going to increase to $1,700 a month.
