BOISE, Idaho — The Discovery Center of Idaho has dedicated times for visitors to enjoy a less overstimulating environment.
It is called sensory-friendly learning, where kids and adults can experience all the center has to offer with less of the busy everyday atmosphere.
Many of the current displays in their latest exhibit, Going Places , can be loud, bright, or just too much for some, such as the hovercraft or the airplane simulator.
To ensure everyone can have fun, the center's staff has designated special times for a more low-key experience while still allowing for full STEM learning.
A color-coded map of the Discovery Center notes where certain types of stimulation are within each exhibit.
Visitors are also given loaner sensory kits with fidget spinners, noise-reducing headphones
