Wards at Bristol Royal Infirmary to remain closed over fire risk View Image

Two wards at Bristol Royal Infirmary evacuated due to fire safety concerns that contributed to a 'critical incident' being declared will remain closed. Hospitals under the management of the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust were plunged into chaos on October 30 when a critical incident was declared .

The declaration was partly prompted by the urgent closure of two wards at the BRI after problems were identified in the facade of the building which housed them.

The critical incident was declared over on Tuesday (November 4), but a UHBW spokesperson confirmed the wards would not be reinstated.
