FLINT, MI - Every few months, People’s Church of Flint turns its place of worship into a small community theater — not to entertain, but to inspire reflection and understanding.
The church’s Justice and Activism Committee, also known as Joyful Defiance, hosts a quarterly film series that explores complex social issues and encourages open conversation among community members.
“The last movie that we did was actually on journalism, but we do a movie quarterly, and this one had very good turnout,” said committee chair Annie Canty. ”So we were really happy with the turnout because we would love for more people to know about our justice and activism movies that we put on quarterly.”
