BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) will waive all bus fares on Saturday, Nov. 15, to help East Baton Rouge Parish residents get to the polls for Election Day.
CATS said the initiative aims to remove transportation barriers and encourage voter participation across the community.
“We want every resident to have the opportunity to make their voice heard,” said CATS CEO Theo Richards. “By providing free transportation to the polls, we’re helping make the voting process easier, safer, and more accessible for our entire community.”
According to CATS, all fixed-route CATS buses will be free to ride throughout the service area that day. Regular schedules and routes will remain in effect, and no passes or vouchers are required.
