The Fairbanks FeederCount is a decades-long effort to track winter bird populations in the Fairbanks area. Participants watch their bird feeders and record sightings on three Saturdays (in November, December, and March) then return their data sheet to the Alaska Songbird Institute.
Download the 2025-26 counter’s packet here: aksongbird.org/our-work/fairbanks-feedercount .
The packet includes instruction, bird ID information, and a data sheet.
Return the sheet to the Alaska Songbird Institute after March 6, 2026.
This year, the counting days are Nov. 8, Dec. 8 and March 7, 2026, (three Saturdays). You may substitute another day within a week of the scheduled day, if necessary. Count only the birds seen on your count day.
Count only the birds that are attracted to the food you set out
