A Grey Bruce OPP police officer was “clipped” by a passing car’s side mirror at a roadside traffic stop Wednesday night in Meaford.

The officer received minor injuries and a 70-year-old driver from Hamilton was charged with four Highway Traffic Act offences, including for violating the provincial move over requirement .

The incident happened about 8:44 p.m., while the officer was conducting a traffic stop on Highway 26, near Algonquin Drive in Meaford.

“While the officer was dealing with the driver of the vehicle that had been pulled over, an eastbound vehicle clipped the officer with its passenger-side mirror and failed to stop,” a police news release said.
