BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- LSU's soccer team advances to the SEC Tournament Championship after defeating the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 3-1, in the semifinals on Thursday.

According to the university, this will be the third time in program history that the No. 5 seed soccer team heads to the finals. The team ranked nationally for the first time since 2021 this season.

LSU said Thursday's match was the team's 13th win of the year, the third-highest mark in program history, and the first time it had reached 13 wins since 2018.

Next, the soccer team faces No. 2 seed Vanderbilt and No. 3 seed Georgia in the SEC Championship at 1:30 p.m. CT Sunday, Nov. 9. Fans can watch the game on the SEC Network.
