CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -- A Charleston County school board member is behind bars Friday morning on a domestic violence charge, according to jail records.

Records indicate Suzanne Michele Leber, the estranged wife of Republican state Sen. Matt Leber, was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center shortly before 8:10 a.m. on a third-degree domestic violence charge.

Leber, 55, is accused of assaulting her estranged husband earlier this month, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 2.

The affidavit states that Michele Leber called deputies to a Johns Island home on Nov. 3 in reference to two previous incidents between her and her husband, one of which occured that morning and another a couple of days earlier.
