BIG RAPIDS — As the nation prepares to honor military service on Veterans Day, Hospice of Michigan is seeking veteran volunteers to support fellow veterans in hospice care across Northern Michigan.
The not-for-profit said in a Nov. 7 news release that it needs veterans to provide support and camaraderie to patients and families in cities including Ludington, Big Rapids, Manistee, Gaylord, Cadillac, Charlevoix, Traverse City and Alpena.
While no act can fully repay the debt owed to those who served, the organization said veteran volunteers bring a unique bond that fosters trust, understanding and meaningful connection.
Volunteers can offer comfort through shared experience with physical wounds, survivor’s guilt, post-traumatic stress and other invisible scars of service.
