GRAND FORKS — Faculty and students alike expressed concern about a proposal to cut the number of credits required for a bachelor’s degree Thursday at a UND University Senate meeting.
The State Board of Higher Education is considering reducing the number of credits required to obtain a bachelor’s degree from 120 to as low as 90. Members of the UND University Senate and student body government said if that proposal is approved, they’re worried it could have negative impacts on students’ futures.
Bob Newman, chair of biology, said he believes the people who suggested the proposal are not fully aware of all the potential pitfalls.
