This is Novel November month, a time when novice writers are encouraged to create their first draft, or 50,000 words, in 30 days.

Since one of the hardest parts of writing a novel is starting it, the St. Tammany Parish Library has resources to help take that first step by removing any doubt about what to do next and by equipping them with knowledge and advice from seasoned writers.

Understanding the path from brainstorming to writing and publishing can be accomplished through online classes, in-person workshops and author events. Or for those seeking a more traditional approach, hundreds of books on how to write, find a literary agent and publish are available in the branches or through eBooks.
