Madeleine McCann's parents Kate and Gerry have issued a fresh plea after a woman claiming to be their daughter has been convicted of harassment.

Julia Wandelt, 24, has been convicted by a jury at Leicester Crown Court following an five-week trial, in which the court heard how she turned up at the McCann family home and sent sinister letters and messages, while repeatedly begging for a DNA test.

After the jury deliberated for more than seven hours, she was found guilty of harassing Kate and Gerry McCann, but not guilty of stalking. The defendant's co-accused Karen Spragg was cleared of both stalking and harassment. View 3 Images
