A woman who falsely claimed to be Madeleine McCann has been sentenced to to six months in prison for harassing her family . Julia Wandelt has also been given a restraining order stopping her going near Kate and Gerry McCann.
That order was made due to her posing a “significant risk of the harassment of the McCanns in future”, her trial judge has said. Wamdelt, 24, from Poland, had turned up at the couple's home, sending sinister letters and asking for a DNA test. She was found not guilty of stalking.
Judge Mrs Justice Cutts said: "It has been confirmed in this case you are not Madeleine McCann. There was not proper or logical basis for this. What you should not have done is behave as you did to the McCanns.
"They too were entitled to leave matters with the police and refuse to engag
