On her 80th birthday, Dare County honors Mary Helen Goodloe-Murphy

At this point, Mary Helen Goodloe-Murphy may be getting used to the accolades. She was named Dare County Citizen of the Year in 2012 and Outer Banks Citizen of the Year in 2013. She has also been honored with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest award for state service granted by the Governor.

Her most recent honor came during the Nov. 3 Dare County Commissioners meeting when Chairman Bob Woodard read a resolution by the board recognizing her, on the occasion of her 80 th birthday, as a Dare County Ambassador.
