KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Before his senior year, Vol for Life Trevon Flowers thought he was bound for the NFL. When an unexpected diagnosis made that impossible, he had to rely on God to see him through.

A defensive back, Flowers joined the team in 2018, and by his final season in 2022, he believed he was in the best shape of his life. But during the first game, he started feeling strange. He was sore and not as light on his feet as he was used to. At first, he didn't think too much of it, especially with how many injuries he'd overcome in the past, but it kept getting worse.

"It seemed like everything in my body was just easily tweaked," Flowers told 6 News. "I was getting hurt easily."
