TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County jury found Jeffrey King guilty Thursday, more than a year and a half after a patient in his care - Ethan Kleinhans - died of asphyxiation.
Jeffrey King was found guilty of patient endangerment, a third-degree felony. King had originally pleaded not guilty to the same charge in June, 2025.
Kleinhans, a 19-year-old man with developmental disabilities, was found tangled in his harness inside a transport van in west Toledo on March 3, 2024. A report from the Toledo Police Department says first responders received a call stating that Kleinhans was unconscious while in the van on Hallgate Avenue. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
