SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Starting Friday, Nov. 7, travelers should expect widespread flight cancellations as the government shutdown and staffing shortages disrupt air travel across the country.
Airlines have been canceling flights after the FAA announced it’s cutting air traffic at 40 airports until a deal is reached to end the shutdown.
Reductions to airline travel will be day to day as the FAA is cutting flight travel by 4% starting Friday, and then it will pick up to 10% by next week.
The move comes as air traffic controllers have gone through the government shutdown without pay, already missing one paycheck. Airlines will determine what flights they want to cut.
