BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — A deer head found on the front steps of a home in Bristol was placed there unintentionally, according to police.
The homeowners on Elmwood Drive reached out to police on the morning of Oct. 30, saying they believed it was an intentional act by someone upset with them over their opposition to bow hunting in the area.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management was called in to assist with the investigation.
After reviewing video of the surrounding neighborhoods and locations used to enter the hunting area, police said there was no evidence of hunters on the night of the incident, but it does show coyote activity.
The remains were consistent with a one-year-old Doe, according to police, and the marks were consistent with an animal attack.
