CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Ethics Commission has ordered public reprimands on a pair of public officials.

The commission announced Friday that Reedy Mayor Richard Martin is being reprimanded, fined $1,000 and ordered to undergo Ethics Act training for what he did with city money.

The commission said Martin violated the state Ethics Act when he used city funds to pay his personal electric bill, rehire his father to a city position without city council approval and remove money from the city’s bingo/raffle box.

In a separate case, Tyler County Board of Education member Larry Thomas is being reprimanded for sending a text message to the county school superintendent asking for his help in hiring his son to a position in the Tyler County school system, a violation of the state’s E
