HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) -- Governor Josh Shapiro signed two bills into law Thursday.

The laws, Act 43 and Act 44, address weapons in schools as well as motorcycle riders in the Commonwealth.

Act 44, introduced as SB 246 by Sen. Jarrett Coleman (R-District 16) and Sen. Christine Tartaglione (D-District 2), will change the law in Pennsylvania and require schools to inform parents of any incident where a weapon is brought to school or a school-sponsored event.

"There should be a much higher level of transparency around weapons brought to schools," Coleman wrote in the initial memorandum.

Previously, Pennsylvania law only required schools to report incidents to the Department of Education.

In addition, Act 42, introduced as HB 646 by Rep Zachary Mako (R-District 183), will amend state law
