LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - A woman accused of defrauding childcare and voucher school programs of more than $1.3 million was sentenced to 10 years in prison this week.

Tomeka Nicole Henry of Lake City accepted a plea deal on Monday on the counts of organized fraud exceeding $50,000 and grand theft exceeding $100,000. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. As part of the deal, two other fraud charges were dropped.

Henry was initially arrested in March 2024 following an investigation conducted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office into Touch By an Angel Learning Academy, a daycare and private school located on North U.S. Highway 441 in the Five Points area.
