LUVERNE, Minn. — The Vault’s recent series on the 1984 cold case murder of Kelly Jean Robinson now has a companion podcast, taking listeners behind the scenes of the investigation that led to the release of the police file and an interview with a man once considered a potential suspect.
Robinson was 22 years old when her body was found floating May 28, 1984, in a rural Rock County pond, just outside of Luverne. An autopsy determined Robinson, a resident of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was killed after being held down in the water by her neck and shoulders.
Near the shoreline, investigators found her blue Pro Wing tennis shoes on a large pile of matted-down grass.
