GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Four dogs were rescued following an investigation into an ongoing dog-fighting operation in Greenville County.

The investigation began following complaints of possible animal cruelty and dogfighting. Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, along with Greenville County Animal Control, executed a search warrant at Artillery Court in Piedmont, where officials said several dogs were being housed and bred.

During the search, authorities said they seized four American pit bull terriers, which were safely placed in the care of animal control for medical evaluation and treatment. Two of the dogs reportedly showed signs of injuries consistent with dog fighting.
