Former home affairs secretary Mike Pezzullo has warned the risk of a political assassination on Australian soil revealed this week is just the "tip of the tip of the iceberg".
ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess delivered the 2025 Lowy Lecture at Sydney Town Hall on Tuesday where he said there was a "realistic possibility" three foreign governments would attempt to conduct assassinations in Australia.
Mr Burgess said Australia has never faced "so many different threats" at once and stressed that social cohesion was "under siege" and "under attack".
