FREEPORT, Ill. — A local food drive kicked off today.
For the 11th year, 13 WREX has teamed up with Cornerstone Credit Union to host the annual Freeport Food Drive.
13 WREX's Bailey Boesen was live from the food drive for 13 News Today and 13 News at Noon. She spoke with Amy Korte, Executive Director of the Freeport Area Church Cooperative, on what the buildup to the drive has been like.
"The anticipation of this has been a state of panic," said Korte.
Korte said that some Freeport residents are struggling to pay rent now that they are putting their money towards food, and that a lot of people have been coming to the FACC for support.
