WASHINGTON, DC - The Federal Aviation Administration is scheduled to cut back on the number of flights at 40 major airports across the country, including Teterboro Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport, starting Friday, Nov. 7.
Along with Teterboro and Newark, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International Airports will also be affected.
According to the agency's website, “a 4 percent reduction in operations will take effect Friday, November 7, ramping up to 6 percent by November 11, 8 percent by November 13, and 10 percent by November 14.”
The effort is in response to the federal government shutdown. Controllers have been working without pay, and there are staffing shortages at facilities across the country.
