HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a series of recent vehicle break-ins that have been reported throughout the city over the past 48 hours.
Officials state officers were called Thursday afternoon to Vass Automotive on Frederica Street where about 20 vehicles were found with windshields that were shattered from overnight vandalism.
Officers were called to multiple area hotels the next morning, taking more than 20 reports of vehicles that were broken into with similar damage. Several victims reported having items stolen, including several firearms.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as additional reports continue to be filed. OPD wants to remind residents to lock vehicles and remove all valuables when leaving parked overnight or unattended.
