FRANKFORT, Ky. — U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, has made his run for the United States Senate official.
Earlier today, Barr officially filed the paperwork at the Kentucky Secretary of State's temporary office in Frankfort. He hopes to replace outgoing Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. He has held his congressional seat since 2013.
Wednesday was the first day that candidates in Kentucky who want to appear on the May 2026 primary ballot could file their forms for office. Jan. 9 is the candidate filing deadline.
