It's been more than five weeks since the federal government shutdown, the longest in U.S. history. The shutdown has impacted hundreds of thousands of federal workers, including air traffic controllers who have been working unpaid since the shutdown began on Oct. 1.

Staffing shortages have forced airlines to delay or cancel flights across the country. The Federal Aviation Administration announced it will reduce air traffic by 10% at 40 “high-volume” airports across the country starting Nov. 7.
