SEATTLE — A man is in critical condition and undergoing surgery and another man is in custody after an altercation on a Seattle metro bus resulted in a shooting.

Seattle police responded to the 800 block of Rainier Ave S around 10 a.m. on Friday to a shooting that occurred on the sidewalk outside a Metro bus.

The potential suspect stayed nearby and was detained less than a block away. A gun has also been recovered, according to Seattle Police Detective Eric Munoz.

A man was shot in the chest, responding police officers and Seattle firefighters provided aid before he was transported to Harborview. Initially the man was seriously wounded, but his condition has been upgraded to critical.
