ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A multi-organization partnership aims to bring a new airline and new destinations to the Abilene Regional Airport.

The days of limited flight travel to and from Abilene might be over after a recent announcement at an Abilene City Council meeting, where a partnership was voted on between the City of Abilene, the Abilene Regional Airport, the Development Corporation of Abilene, and SkyWest Airlines that would see new flights for the airport through United Airlines.

At the council meeting, Abilene City Manager Emily Crawford outlined that a budget commitment to the Development Corporation of Abilene, with a proposed incentive of around $8.6 million over a three-year period, is funding this new venture.
